possibility is to always use capital letters; another is to
capitalize the first letter of each word or line; it doesn't
matter as long as you are consistent!]
THE FILES ARE CURRENTLY SET UP TO RECEIVE AS FOLLOWS:

one of the menus is being displayed. This will be true
throughout the program. Also, before a file is edited or
changed in any way, you will be asked if you wish to create a
back-up file (filespec.bak) as an extra precaution against
losing data.]

[The function keys may be used for quick access to other
portions of the program as described in the lower right
quadrant of the screen above: F1 takes you back to the MAIN
menu while F2 returns you to the EDIT menu; F7 produces a
complete list of the names currently in the Address Book file
being accessed while F8 produces the user defined NOTES and
allows you to edit them if you wish; typing F9 will allow you
to save the working file and to continue working with the
present file --an added precaution against losing data; F10
provides HELP while <Alt> F10 allows you to QUIT --you will
be prompted to be sure of your intent. Function keys F1, F7,
F8, F9 and F10 provide this function throughout this program
regardless of what menu is being accessed. They will be
listed on virtually all of the menus in the Address Book.
The F2-F6 keys are only displayed on menus in which they are
appropriate. Examples are provided in the following pages.
A complete summary of the function key commands is provided

your working file might be in alphabetical order and you wish

saving time, you might save the same file which has been
sorted in various ways; you can save each of these files
under a different file name. (For example zip-file.dat, name-

that three characters be coded in this way. Ample

using zipcodes or user defined notes. If, for example, a note
for all relatives is chosen--the subdirectory will include a file
on all rleatives found in the main directory including all of the
fields selected above. Global messages will be included automatically
while individual messages will be querried file by file. You will
be asked to name the file and the file will then be automatically
saved to disk for later use with the designated wordprocessing
software.
These options will be made available through a series of questions
presented on the screen.
For <L> (LIST): The complete liste of names in the file will be
presented on the screen and may be printed out.
For <F> (FILE): The file you are currently accessing will
be saved and the program will then continue.
FOR <X> (EXAMINE): The file in memory will be replaced by a
new file to be specified--data from the first file is lost
unless saved prior to typing <X>; see <F> (above).

FOR <T> (TRANSFER): This option will allow you to selectively
transfer records from the active file to a new file you designate--
a subdirectory. The files can be transferred by user defined
NOTE by ZIPCODE or by manually providing the SURNAME. A list
of the files transferred to the subdirectory is obtained by
typing <L> while in the <T> Menu.

GENERAL INFORMATION
NOTE: The software is menu driven and user friendly. The
more important features of the various menus have been
outlined here--additional features will be obvious as the
program is accessed and run.
CUSTOMIZED ADDRESS BOOKS: The address book program provided
here allows for approximately 300 files to be saved to and accessed
from disk. The program can be modified to allow for a file disk
to be used in conjunction with the program disk. This and other
customized modifications are available. Mail inquiries to the
address provided below. If you wish to discuss a specific
modification, our phone number is also provoded for your use.
RAM DRIVE OPERATION: The Address Book operates most quickly
and efficently if used from a "superdrive or ram drive".
An AUTOEXEC.BAT file can be created to load the entire address
book, including data files, to the ram drive and to then default
to that drive.
